Tennessee vacation

Last week we took a family vacation down to Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains!  We had a great time staying in a cabin up in the mountains and also a waterpark resort!  I can't get enough of looking at God's beautiful mountains....just breathtaking!! =)  Here are some pictures from our trip...

On the way down we decided to break up the trip and stopped at the zoo in Louisville Kentucky

Keira doing a "scared" face with the gorilla behind her

Here Addisyn joined in on the "scared" look

LOVED watching the gorillas...not too many zoos you get to see these guys at

I don't think we're in Indiana anymore!!!
Our cabin in the mountains!  It was called Stars and Stripes.

This was up in the open loft where Jim and I slept.  There was a pool table and an air hockey table along with a big jacuzzi tub and seperate bathroom.  We also had a balcony up here.

Here is a view looking down from the loft down at the living room.  The girls bedroom was off to the left.

One of the reasons I picked this cabin was because I knew the girls would LOVE the air hockey table...it was a hit!

Another view up in the loft at where Jim and I slept

This was taken downstairs looking at our spiral staircase to the right and amazing windows looking out at the mountains.

Another view from up in the loft looking at the spiral staircase to your left and our dining table straight below and kitchen off to the right

One of our late night visitors!  Jim had to scare this guy out of our trash can a couple of times!  We could also hear him up on the roof in the morning...sounded like he was knocking on the roof!

Our early morning visitor
Hot tub with a view!!!

This was an entrance to a store

Doing a little Gem Mining...it was fun!!

Addisyn searching for gems and fossils

Keira must have thought it would help to stick out your tongue

Waiting to ride the Jurassic Jungle boat ride.  Looks like these guys have been around for awhile!!

Listening to a Christmas story from Santa's elf at the Incredible Christmas Store!

One of these dolls is not like the others....

Visiting the park!  It was awesome...we drove clear across the park to the North Carolina side to go on a trail we wanted to see that had 3 waterfalls!!

Starting the hike

Here is the first waterfall

This little visitor was a fun treat on the trail!  Keira was about to step on him when Jim pulled her quickly back!  Keira spent the rest of our trip telling everyone she met about the snake she saw! =)

Taking a break

Nothing like sticking your feet in a cool creek

Here is a nicer visitor we met along the trail!

I kept taking pictures of Addisyn trying to get one for her 7th year picture...here is the winner!

Here is the 2nd waterfall

And the 3rd

A view from the top

They aren't called the "SMOKEY" mountains for no reason!!

One afternoon we found a riverwalk trail to take a short walk along

At the Dixie Stampede dinner theater

These guys were the preshow entertainment and Keira found a few little friends to dance with

Getting ready for the show to start

Our seats...Keira didn't like the bright flash in the dark so kept closing her eyes

The beginning of the show....it was VERY neat and I would love to go see it again!

Finally enjoying the waterpart resort.  We stayed at the Wilderness at the Smokies where they have 2 outdoor and 1 indoor waterparks.

1, 2, 3 JUMP!!!  Our hotel room was in the building behind the girls

It took the girls forever to go near the play thing with the huge bucket that would dump water every couple of minutes!  Finally I convinced them to go up to the slide and go down together.  Once they did you could NOT get Keira off...she must have gone down a couple of hundred times!!

Here is a view of Keira going down from the top

In the wave pool

Jim and Addisyn on the lazy river

Look at the mountains in the background

Addisyn is our little adventurer and went down both of these slides many times by herself

Sisterly love

Good ole' minature golf!

Daddy and Keira

This was a tree tops adventure course at our resort that Addisyn had been begging to go on so Jim went with her.  Unfortunately she got a little scared of being up so high so didn't stay up there too long but she did really well!!

Jim is on the upper level and Addisyn is being helped across on the lower level

Since Keira was too short she opted for the frog hopper!

As you can see on her face she was quite happy

How exciting. Glad to hear you all enjoyed your trip. I've been to Gatlinburg so many times as a kid. It really is beautiful. I took Alan about 4 years ago. We have yet to return with Lexi, but it's deffinately on our list.
